Premed Patients

Are you a “premed” patient? If you have been told by your physician in the past to take a high dose of antibiotic before dental treatment, you may not need to take it any longer. The American Heart Association has issued new guidelines that differ from previous guidelines we had followed. The new guidelines state that patients with mitral valve prolapse, those who have had rheumatic fever and congenital heart conditions may not require the high dose of antibiotic before dental procedures. Sonshine Family Dental recommends that you verifiy all medication changes with your medical doctor before altering your prescribed medications.
