Did you know, if you take care of your toothbrush you are taking care of your oral health? Well, it’s true! Here at Sonshine Family Dental in Avon, IN, we are happy to talk to you about the importance of toothbrush care, so your teeth can stay healthy for years to come.

Your toothbrush can harbor bacteria, spreading around your teeth and damaging enamel. If you strive to wash off your toothbrush each day before and after use, you could keep bacteria from your teeth. Other bacteria or food particles can also get stuck in the bristles of the brush, which is why keeping your brush clean can also keep your teeth clean.

Your toothbrush should always be replaced every four to six months according to the American Dental Association. If your bristles become too frayed, they will not work or scrub your teeth properly. It is also a great idea to switch out your toothbrush any time after you become sick or suffer an illness.
